A Suzu-yaki incense holder — a hand-formed incense plate for a single stick or cone. Suzu Star is the first design in our incense-holder line.
Unglazed black stoneware, born from the iron-rich clay of Japan's Noto Peninsula and drawn out by fire and ash. Each incense holder is one of a kind — slight variations in colour, texture, and form are the mark of genuine handmade work, not flaws. With use, the surface settles into a deeper, quieter lustre.

Shipping & delivery
Ships hand-wrapped from Japan with tracked Japan Post, dispatched within 5–7 business days. Delivery is typically 7–14 business days after dispatch. Tracking is included.

A small flat rate by destination (about US$15 to the United States · around CA$15–20 elsewhere), shown in your local currency at checkout. Any order of Zen Complete Set value or more (CA$135+) ships free, worldwide.
Duties & taxes
United States: import duties are prepaid — you pay nothing extra on delivery. Hong Kong: no customs duty and no tax — nothing extra to pay on delivery (Hong Kong is a free port). Canada: no customs duty (Japan–Canada CPTPP); Canada Post may collect GST/HST and a small handling fee (about CA$10) on arrival. United Kingdom & Singapore: local taxes vary — email us and we'll tell you exactly what to expect before you order. We declare every shipment accurately.
Care
Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth. Rinse gently if needed and dry fully. No harsh detergents or dishwasher.
If it arrives damaged
Each piece is fragile and hand-packed with care. If anything arrives damaged, email info@the-zen-artisan.com within 7 days with photos of the piece and packaging, and we'll send a replacement or a full refund.
The Artisan
This incense holder is made by Takanori Kizawa (木澤孝則), a Suzu-yaki potter in Suzu City on the Noto Peninsula. He forms and finishes each piece by hand in the revived Suzu-yaki tradition — so no two are exactly alike.
When you light your incense, you hold the work of a single maker, carried on through the rebuilding of Noto.
