"Full Moon" — Round Suzu-yaki Incense Holder
The moon, kept on your shelf
A round Suzu-yaki incense plate, hand-formed on the Noto Peninsula. We first made it for one mid-autumn night — but a full moon returns every month, so this one stays. Light a single stick, and keep a quiet ten minutes of your own.
- Choose a softly dished Curve or a calm, level Flat plate
- Hand-formed and unglazed — a deep charcoal-black drawn out by earth, flame and ash alone
- About 9cm across — shaped to hold a single stick of incense and catch its ash
A thoughtful gift for someone who loves Japanese craft, quiet rituals, or a small moment of calm.
The "Full Moon" plate is a round Suzu-yaki (珠洲焼) incense plate, hand-formed on the Noto Peninsula from iron-rich local clay and fired without glaze — its deep charcoal-black surface drawn out by earth, flame and ash alone. About 9cm across, it is shaped to hold a single stick of incense and catch its ash. Quietly round, like the moon itself.
Choose your shape
- Curve — a surface softly dished, curving gently inward. approx. 80g
- Flat — level and calm, about 8mm thick. approx. 140g
What's included
- One hand-formed Suzu-yaki "Full Moon" incense plate (approx. 9cm), in your chosen shape
Incense is not included — pair your plate with any of our Xiang Do incense, or a stick you already love.
Please note
Ships from Japan — please allow 1–3 weeks.
Each piece is made entirely by hand. Because Suzu-yaki is individually formed and fired by hand, slight variations in colour, shape, texture, and size are natural and unique to your piece — the mark of a genuine handmade object, not a flaw.

Caring for your Suzu-yaki
Dishwasher safe — we run ours through the dishwasher regularly. Rinse or wash, then dry fully before storing; avoid open flame and the microwave. With gentle use, the surface deepens in character over the years.

The Artisan
The "Full Moon" plate is made by Takanori Kizawa (木澤孝則), a Suzu-yaki potter in Suzu City on the Noto Peninsula. He forms and finishes each piece by hand in the revived Suzu-yaki tradition — so no two are exactly alike.
When you light a stick on this plate, you hold the work of a single maker, carried on through the rebuilding of Noto.
