Suzu-yaki Incense Set

A hand-formed Suzu-yaki incense plate from the Noto Peninsula, paired with incense from Shoyeido — Kyoto's oldest incense house, established in 1705.

Suzu-yaki (珠洲焼) is an unglazed stoneware fired in a wood kiln, its deep charcoal surface born from the iron-rich clay of the Noto Peninsula. Each plate is shaped to cradle a single stick or cone of incense, turning a daily ritual into a moment of stillness.

Each piece is made entirely by hand. Because Suzu-yaki is individually formed and wood-fired, slight variations in colour, shape, texture, and size are natural and unique to your piece — they are the mark of a genuine handmade object, not a flaw.
